Translation

1       He who saw the Deep, the foundation of the count[ry],

2       knew the ways, was w[ise] in everything!

-----

3       Gilgameš who saw the Deep, the foundation of the country,

4       knew the ways, was w[ise] in everything!

-----

5       Likewise he inspected the shrines.

6       He knew the totality of wisdom about everything!

7       He who went the far path of Utur-napušti!

8       He who crossed the ocean, the wide sea, as far as the sunrise!

9       He brought back a message from the antediluvian age.

10     He came a distant path and was weary and distressed.

11     They set down for him on a stele all (his) labours.

12     Gilgameš lets no young(!) bride(!) free to her bride-groom.

-----

26     Did the Seven Sages not lay its foundation?"

27     One šār is city, one šār is date-grove, one šār is clay-pit, half a šār the temple of Ištar.

28     Can not be explained – half a šār is Uruk, ⸢…⸣
